Rheostatic switching in devices with liquid-metal contact

The question of increasing the nominal parameters and the service life of the high-current DC switching devices with liquid-metal contact switching low-voltage circuitry of the electrolysis installations in chemical and metallurgy industry, has been considered. The analysis of the rheostat switching mode, allowing to reduce dimensions of the arc-suppressing arrangements of switching devices, the overvoltage and the erosion of contact and to increase the service life has been carried out. The switching device voltage dependences on time in case of various speed values of current-limiting resistance brought into the circuitry, as well as the device maximum switching voltage, current limiting time and the Joulean integral value dependences on resistance leading-in time.
